Frequently Asked Questions

One of the most important factors in effective therapy is the relationship between you and the therapist. It is important for you to find a therapist whose style, energy and expertise meet your needs and align with your goals. Above all, it is essential for you to be comfortable with your therapist.
In our free 30-minute video call, we’ll get to know each other. You’re welcome to ask about my approach and experience, and I’ll be curious to hear about your situation, hopes, and goals for therapy. There’s no pressure to commit.
If it feels like a good fit, we can schedule an initial appointment — a full, paid therapy session. It’s a chance to experience how we might work together, get support right away, and explore what therapy could focus on. There is no commitment to continue after this first session. And of course if it feels right, we’ll then find a regular weekly time just for you.

Sessions are typically 45 minutes and held weekly.
Some clients choose to meet more often (2 times a week) or for longer (90-minute sessions), especially during challenging times or when doing somatic or trauma-focused work. We’ll decide together what best supports your goals.
I ask for a weekly commitment because therapy works best with consistency. This consistent rhythm helps build a safe, trusting relationship and supports meaningful, lasting change. Your appointment time is set aside exclusively for you each week with the expectation that you will do the same.
I focus on long-lasting growth and meaningful change for my clients. I do not offer biweekly or monthly sessions, unless we're coming to the end of therapy together.

As someone who’s been on the client side of therapy, I recognize that therapy is an emotional and financial investment — and it’s important to find a provider who is the right fit for you - both personally and practically.
My fee is $250 for a 45 minute individual psychotherapy session.
Insurance
I am in-network with Aetna. If you have another insurance plan that offers out-of-network benefits — you might be able to get reimbursed for part of our session fees. If that's the case, I can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance. Just keep in mind that payment is due out of pocket at the time of our sessions.
Therapy can also be paid for with pre-tax dollars from your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).
How does insurance reimbursement work?
I'd encourage you to contact the Member Services phone number on the back of your health insurance card to verify your coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
Here are the questions that you can ask if you're not sure what they are:
Do you have “out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage”?
What is your out-of-network deductible?
Is your in-network deductible the same as out-of-network deductible? Have you met it yet? How much have you accumulated so far this calendar year?
What is your co-insurance rate for outpatient psychotherapy (% of reimbursement per session) after meeting your deductible?
What are your plan’s “allowable amounts” for psychotherapy (CPT code 90834 for a 45-min session, code 90837 for a 60-min session)?
How many outpatient therapy sessions are allowed per calendar year?
What is your out-of-pocket maximum if any?
What is the process for submitting claims? It will be important to record the proper mailing, fax or web address so you will be ready to submit your claims.
Do you require prior authorization for out-of-network outpatient therapy sessions? If so, please provide them with the date of the first session and our billing information below :

If you prefer not to submit the superbill to your insurance plan directly, I use a service called Thrizer, a payment system that handles the out-of-network process automatically for you. They will verify your coverage and allow you to only pay a copay for our sessions after you meet your deductible. This means that you can save on our sessions upfront instead of paying my full rate and waiting for your insurance reimbursement. Please read your right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” here.

I reserve a limited number of reduced-fee spots for individuals from marginalized communities who face ongoing financial hardship due to oppression.
Clients who are able to pay my full rate directly support the accessibility of my practice. This allows me to stay aligned with my values, honor the depth and impact of this work, and sustain a livelihood that makes offering this care possible.
